Trevor Samson
Trevor has been a professional photographer for over 30 years. He started working part time at the Rand Daily Mail and Sunday Express, both then based in Johannesburg, then for the Johannesburg newspaper The Star before moving to the international press agency Agence France Presse (AFP) in South Africa. He occupied this position for eight years mainly covering the transition from apartheid to democracy between 1985 and 1992. He also covered news events across Africa ranging from hard news to animal rescue and won numerous awards and accolades from work published in international newspapers and magazines.
His work has been published by Time Magazine, Newsweek, The New York Times, The International Herald Tribune and many others worldwide. In this part of his career he also won a number of first prizes in news and feature categories and also collected a second prize at the South African press awards in the sport category.
