Tom Pietrasik
Tom Pietrasik is a freelance photojournalist dividing time between London and New Delhi. His key component is the appraisal of and empathy with subjects documented. Since 2002, he has supplied editorial photography coverage to newspapers, magazines, and International NGOs,as a front line photographer in emergency situations. The work has focused on developing countries in South Asia including India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, as well as the middle income countries including Thailand and Colombia.
His work was displayed in London's National Portrait gallery in 2008-9 as part of the
Taylor Wessing Portrait Prize. His photographs on the Indian middle class featured in the
Noorderlicht Photofestival 2006: Another Asia. In the same year, The British Council and
UNICEF hosted an exhibition of his photographs depicting the lives of tsunami-affected
children in Chennai, India.
